Sid DeRouen
I have been a grassfed beef producer since 2009 on a family farm located in south Louisiana. Presently, I am employed with Gonsoulin Land & Cattle Grassfed Beef where besides producing beef for this company, I am also involved with product education and marketing. Prior to this, I worked with the LSU AgCenter for 30 years until my retirement in 2013. I began my post-Ph.D. career with the University of Florida as an Assistant-in-Animal Science at North Florida Research & Education Center in Quincy, FL. After one year at Florida, I was hired by the LSU AgCenter as an Assistant Professor (Beef Cattle Research Project Leader) at the Hill Farm Research Station in Homer, LA and during my tenure there was promoted to Associate Professor, Professor as well as Research Station Coordinator. In 2009, I transferred to the Dean Lee Research Station in Alexandria, LA as Professor (Beef Cattle Research Project Leader) and the Bull Testing Coordinator. I have been happily married for 34 years to Rose R. DeRouen and we are now living at my family’s home and farm near New Iberia, LA where I grew up and developed an appreciation of raising livestock, especially beef cattle.
