7th Annual Winter Green-Up Grass-Fed Grazing Conference

Cornell Cooperative Extension, Capital Area Agriculture and Horticulture Program and Black Queen Angus present the Seventh Annual Winter Green-Up Grass-Fed Grazing Conference, January 30-31, 2015 at The Century House, Latham, NY.

The Seventh Annual Winter Green-Up will feature eight speakers including Allan Nation, editor of Stockman Grass Farmer, a publication devoted solely to grassland farming. Several speakers will comment on their switch from conventional farming to grass-based management–with positive results to the cows, the environment, farmers and consumers.

According to conference co-creator Morgan Hartman, of Black Queen Angus, “Based on feedback from both speakers and attendees this is one of the top conferences nationally to learn about grass-fed beef, soil health and marketing. This will be our broadest year in terms of speaker topics including University at Albany biology professor and farmer Gary Kleppel and Tim Joseph, founding farmer and owner of Maple Hill Creamery.”

Friday, January 30th will feature a banquet with a variety of grass-finished meats from local farmers. Many proponents of grass-fed grazing tout the unique flavor of grass-finished meats. Test it out for yourself and reserve a spot.
